The Duck is very powerful, and frequently a person under his protection becomes possessed when performing his dance. He imparts great skill in fishing, but is no friend of the hunter, as he sometimes warns deer and bear of the approach of a hunter. Duck is seldom carved, but his symbol is realistic, generally with half-spread wings.
Cormorant is a beneficial spirit to fishermen, imparting skill in spearing salmon particularly. When carved, he looks somewhat like Raven, but has horizontal fluted marks below each eye.
Kingfisher, "in the beginning.' received the same works as Mink. In addition he grants navigational skills and protects those in dangerous waters.
Owl, the white owl or snow bird, gives skill and strength as a fisher of sturgeon primarily, but also of halibut and salmon. He also helps ordinary people (after proper fasting and cleansing, and singing) to become excellent hunters on sea and land for all game in foul and fair weather.
